Boys & Girls Club
of Red Bank

Venture For Good's newest partnership and its most compressed model yet — a four-session curriculum culminating in a live Business Fair, delivered directly inside an existing community program rather than a separate after-school club.

About This Partnership

This partnership is with the Boys & Girls Club of Red Bank, New Jersey — an existing community program serving a lower-income community. Venture For Good works directly with Club members ages 11–13, delivered inside the Club's existing after-school time rather than as a separate program students have to sign up for or travel to.

Sessions run during the students' regular Club time, so there's no separate signup and no at-home cost burden. The Club provides all materials and supplies. That access model reflects something core to how VFG thinks about this work: entrepreneurial and financial literacy shouldn't be reserved for kids who happen to grow up around that world — every kid deserves a real shot at it.

The curriculum itself is condensed from VFG's standard six-week format into four sessions — Start It (What Is an Entrepreneur?), Build It (branding: name, logo, product list), Sell It (customers, marketing, and pricing, including unit cost, profit, and break-even), and Pitch It (pitch practice plus booth and money logistics). Each session pairs with a hands-on Business Plan workbook that students fill in and keep.

The Business Fair

The program is capped by a live, in-person Business Fair where students run real booths and handle real small-dollar cash transactions with real customers — families, other Club members, and Club staff.

Students receive a starting cash float from the Club, so no one has to front their own money to open a booth. A central "bank" station handles all change during the fair, keeping the cash side of the day simple and supervised.

Outcomes & Research

The partnership uses the same pre/post assessment model as VFG's other sites: a student worksheet that measures both entrepreneurship knowledge, through multiple-choice questions, and confidence, through a self-rating students complete before and after the program.

That data feeds into VFG's longitudinal research goal — and this site in particular tests something the other partnerships don't: whether the model holds up in a compressed, four-session format, delivered in a community setting rather than a school, with a population that doesn't always have access to this kind of programming.
